5 Trends in Mother-of-the-Bride Dresses by Silvia Fernández for 2025

Wedding Godmothers

Be inspired and choose the look that suits you best

Being a godmother is one of the most important roles in a woman’s life, carrying a great responsibility on the wedding day, . For this reason, you should choose a dress that lets you shine without outshining the bride. At Silvia Fernandez we fully understand the importance of this role, which is why we design exclusive dresses perfectly suited to such a special occasion.

On an occasion as unique as a wedding, the mother of the bride also plays a very important role, with the privilege of captivating guests with a design that makes a dazzling impression on the day.

This 2025 season, the trends for mothers of the bride and brides’ mothers are being reimagined, and at our brand we champion designs that combine timeless elegance, carefully crafted details and expert tailoring, turning every garment into a signature.

Stylish mother-of-the-bride trends

For 2025, Silvia Fernandez puts mothers of the bride and mothers of the bride in the spotlight with a collection that shuns clichés: clean-cut designs, fine fabrics and a handcrafted finish that speaks of the hours of work behind it. Each piece embodies timeless elegance, making every detail—from hand embroidery to the perfect drape of a skirt—a distinctive feature.

Minimalism

A timeless choice that is modern, elegant and always in style. The minimalist style is firmly established in 2025 as one of the standout trends for mothers of the bride.

More and more women are choosing clean, refined designs, with clean lines, precise cuts and high-quality fabrics. Minimalism allows the silhouette to take centre stage, without adding overly elaborate elements, creating a look that feels natural yet striking. It is based on a considered, refined aesthetic, where subtle details — such as a structured sleeve, a clean neckline or a fabric with an impeccable drape — take centre stage.

The sleeves

The sleeves become a key feature for enhancing the silhouette and adding distinction to the dress. This year, they are making a strong comeback: structured sleeves (with defined shapes and volume), romantic or flowing styles, adapting to different styles and personalities. From puffed or French sleeves to long sleeves with sheer panels or embroidered details, each look adds character and sophistication without losing its lightness.

Beyond its aesthetic function, this trend transforms the look and takes it to another level adding an extra touch of elegance.

The colours in vogue

The colour palette that will define 2025 moves between two worlds, one more defined by delicacy and another for intensity. The soft pastel shades —such as lavender, dusky pink or baby blue— add a romantic touch with subtlety, while bold colours —such as grass green or bougainvillea— exude personality. For those who favour timeless elegance, the ivory and champagne shades remain a must-have in fashion.

In the world of the mothers of the bride and groom, colours take on a very special significance. Far from being a mere accessory, colour defines the attitude with which you step into a special occasion. Rather than blindly following trends, today’s mother of the bride or groom sees colour as a tool for self-expression, one that reflects the ceremony but, above all, her own identity.

Cuts and fabrics

Three-quarter-length sleeves, a firm favourite for their elegance, subtle boat or V-necks, and a pencil skirt or skirt with a side slit —a signature house style— are among the favourites.

This season, the silhouettes are designed to flatter,, create a streamlined look and bring movement to every body shape. Starting with the Empire waist, with a slightly raised waistline, remains an elegant and very comfortable choice for flattering the figure, especially for women with a less defined waist. Then there is the mermaid silhouette with its natural drape, perfect for mothers of the bride or bridesmaids who want to subtly enhance their curves. Finally, dresses with a midi-length cut are a contemporary choice that brings a fresh feel to the look without sacrificing formality.

Fabrics such as mikado, crepe and satin are paired with embroidery, embellishments or handcrafted details, turning each design into a truly special garment. Details such as 3D flowers, feathers or bows add a chic, elegant touch.

Las capas

Una de las tendencias más innovadoras para madrinas en 2025 son las capas, un recurso versátil que redefine la moda nupcial de invitada. Designed to be styled and transformed in different ways—draped over the shoulders, crossed over, or tied around the neck with the ends falling down the back— they let you adapt the dress to different moments throughout the event, while always maintaining a polished, cohesive look.

In Silvia Fernandez, this trend comes to life in a special way in our collection Musas. Designs such as Bembibre or Bárbara offer two versions of the same look: with or without a cape.

Made-to-measure designs

Within the collection Musas, we have a wide selection of made-to-measure dresses for mothers of the bride and godmothers.

Three designs that captivate with their own distinctive character:

         –   Bruma

Bruma is the epitome of style, perfect when you want elegance and refinement without looking too matronly. It sits beautifully on the hips without clinging. Its three-quarter-length sleeves give it a chic, youthful feel. It is available in three flattering, fresh shades — red, bougainvillea and grass green.

         –   Belén

With its satin crepe midi cut With its hand-crafted floral touches, made petal by petal, Belén is a surefire choice for elegance. Its soft, powdery hue and the contrast between crepe and satin make it wonderfully subtle, while its cuts are thoroughly chic.

         –   Bernardina

Bernardina is a very special design whose name pays tribute to the designer’s mother. Designed for a woman who wants to look utterly chic, with a jewel-like skirt hand-embroidered with beads and and feathers that add a sophisticated touch to the dress. It is paired with a shirt-style bodice for a truly striking, rarely seen look that promises a grand entrance at the altar.

Flor, a mother of the bride who dazzled in a Silvia Fernández design

A perfect example of the elegance and character a mother of the bride can convey is Flor, the groom’s mother at the wedding of Noelia López and Roberto Jiménez. For her we designed an exclusive dress inspired by traditional Manila shawls, paying tribute to heritage and femininity.

She wore a long dress in baby blue, with a spectacular skirt covered in blue fringe that swayed with every step. The result was a look full of personality, capturing the essence of a confident, elegant and deeply emotional woman on such an important day.

Flor not only accompanied her son to the altar, she did so while shining in her own right.

Feathers and embellishment: the perfect combination for shining as a wedding sponsor in a Silvia Fernández design
